The short version: with all six seats in use, the Model Y L has 14.8 cubic feet behind the third row, about half the five-seat Model Y’s trunk. Fold the third row and it grows to 38.0. For protecting it, Tesla’s own Model Y L trunk liner is the surest fit; most five-seat Model Y trunk mats and bins aren’t made for the L. We don’t own a Model Y L, so this page is built on Tesla’s specs and makers’ listings.
Model Y L floor mats: 3W’s new Model Y L set sold out within days of launch and is temporarily off 3W’s site. Tesla’s own liners are the sure fit in the meantime, and we’ll update the moment 3W restocks. See what fits now →
How much space you actually get
From Tesla’s Model Y owner’s manual, in cubic feet:
| Seating setup | Cargo (cu ft) |
|---|---|
| Front trunk (frunk) | 4.1 |
| Behind the third row (all six seats up) | 14.8 |
| Behind the second row (third row folded) | 38.0 |
| Behind the first row (all rear seats folded) | 85.6 |
| Maximum (driver and front passenger only) | 89.7 |
The number that matters most for families is the first trunk figure: with every seat full, the trunk is small. Plan on folding half the third row on days you need the stroller and the groceries, or use the frunk for the overflow. Our Model Y L accessories guide covers the rest of the car.
Protect the trunk: Tesla’s Model Y L liner
Tesla sells a Model Y L All-Weather Rear Trunk + Seatback Liner: a TPE trunk mat with a rigid core plus three-piece seatback protectors, and Tesla says it’s only compatible with the Model Y L. As of October 2026, it’s the most reliable fit we’ve found, since established aftermarket mat brands haven’t caught up with the L yet. It’s sold on Tesla’s own shop.
Organize the frunk
The frunk is the same 4.1 cubic feet on the L as on the five-seat Model Y, and dividers made for it carry over.
Spigen Front Trunk Divider (2-pack)
Research pickSpigen lists it for the Model Y L Premium (six-seat interior) and the Juniper. Splits the frunk into three sections. 4.8 stars from about 125 reviews.$33.99 off today on Amazon · price as of 2026-10-31What to skip for now
- Five-seat Model Y trunk mats and bins. They’re cut for a different trunk, and some popular ones say outright they don’t fit the Model Y L.
- Brand-new Model Y L trunk bins with a handful of reviews. Several have appeared from new sellers with zero to five ratings. We’ll add one when a trusted brand makes it or reviews build up.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much trunk space does the Tesla Model Y L have?
Tesla lists 14.8 cubic feet behind the third row with all six seats in use, 38.0 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 89.7 cubic feet maximum, plus a 4.1-cubic-foot frunk.
Do Model Y trunk mats fit the Model Y L?
Generally no. The L has a different trunk, and some popular five-seat Juniper trunk mats state they don’t fit the Model Y L. Look for a mat that names the Model Y L, such as Tesla’s own Model Y L trunk and seatback liner.
Is there room for a stroller with all six seats up?
It depends on the stroller: 14.8 cubic feet behind the third row is less than half the five-seat Model Y’s 29.0. Many families fold one half of the third row when they need the space; measure your stroller against the trunk before you buy.
