Does the Graco 4Ever Extend2Fit fit in a Tesla Model Y?
Yes. We’ve used it forward-facing in both outboard rear seats, driver’s side and passenger side.
The thing parents worry about with a big convertible seat is the front row. In our car that hasn’t been an issue: with the Graco forward-facing, the front passenger can slide the seat all the way back and our son still has room for his legs.
How we installed it in the Model Y
We installed ours forward-facing with the Model Y’s seat belt rather than LATCH. That’s the method Tesla and Graco both point you to once the child plus the seat pass the lower-anchor weight limit, and it worked cleanly for us:
- Set the recline for forward-facing per Graco’s indicator on the side of the seat.
- Route the Model Y’s seat belt through the forward-facing belt path (Graco’s manual shows which one) and buckle it.
- Remove the slack while pressing the seat firmly into the Model Y’s seatback, then confirm the belt is locked. Tesla’s manual says to pull the belt firmly to check that its automatic locking retractor is engaged, and Graco’s manual covers using the seat’s built-in lock-off if yours has one.
- Attach the top tether to the anchor on the back of the Model Y’s rear seatback and snug it.
- Check the install: the seat should not move more than an inch at the belt path.
If your child is still small enough for LATCH, the Graco’s InRight connectors clip onto the Model Y’s lower anchors in the outboard seats. Either way, use the top tether forward-facing. For the Model Y’s anchor locations and Tesla’s weight limits, see our car seat install guide for the Model Y.
Sharing the row with another seat
The Graco sits beside our son’s Nuna Aace booster with room between them, so two car seats across the Model Y’s back seat is no problem.
Who it’s for
The 4Ever Extend2Fit is the “buy it once” seat. It starts rear-facing for a newborn and ends as a backless booster years later, and the Extend2Fit panel adds legroom so a toddler can stay rear-facing longer, which is what safety groups recommend. For a Model Y family that wants one seat that lasts, it’s an easy pick. It is a big, heavy seat (Graco lists it at about 26 lb), so it’s not the one to move between cars often; for that we use a WAYB Pico travel seat.

As of September 29, 2026, Amazon shows the exact seat we own, the 4Ever Extend2Fit 4-in-1, as currently unavailable. It’s still the listing to watch if you want the same seat (4.9 stars from about 2,000 reviews), so here is that listing in case it comes back. Graco’s own page lists the same seat and also shows it as out of stock, with an email sign-up for when it returns. If you want to buy today, these are the closest Graco seats Amazon has in stock. They are different seats from ours, and we have only tested the 4Ever Extend2Fit in our own Model Y. Here is how they differ:

Graco Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat
In stock. Same 50 lb rear-facing limit and extension panel as our seat, but no backless booster mode. We have not tested this one.
Graco 4Ever DLX 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat
In stock. Four modes like ours, but it stops rear-facing at 40 lb and has no extension panel. This is the version our best car seats guide recommends. We have not tested this one.

Does the Graco 4Ever Extend2Fit fit in a Tesla Model Y?
Yes. It fits either outboard rear seat; we’ve used ours on both sides forward-facing.
Does the front passenger have room with it installed?
Forward-facing, yes. In our Model Y the front passenger can sit all the way back and our son still has legroom.
LATCH or seat belt in the Model Y?
We use the seat belt. Tesla’s manual says to switch from LATCH to the seat belt once the child and seat together weigh more than 65 lb, and this seat alone weighs about 26 lb, so the lower anchors only work for a child up to roughly 39 lb. Always use the top tether forward-facing.
Can you fit it next to another car seat?
Yes. Ours sits beside a Nuna Aace booster with room between them.
What’s the difference between the Graco 4Ever DLX and the 4Ever Extend2Fit?
The Extend2Fit version keeps a child rear-facing to 50 lb and has a 4-position extension panel that adds up to 5 inches of legroom. The 4Ever DLX rear-faces to 40 lb and doesn’t have the panel. Both are 4-in-1 seats with forward-facing harness, high-back booster and backless booster modes.
